BEEF RENDANG

indonesia's legendary dish

Beef Rendang, an iconic dish from West Sumatra, has twice been named the World’s Tastiest Dish by CNN. Its rich, caramelized beef curry, infused with spiced coconut milk and the sweetness of ripe coconut, captures the essence of Indonesia—complex, elegant, and deeply flavorful.

Traditionally slow-cooked for 8–10 hours, our version preserves its authenticity while being ready in just minutes. Every bite is a harmony of tender meat, aromatic spices, and centuries-old culinary artistry.

Beef Rendang is a true masterpiece of Indonesian cuisine. Originating from West Sumatra’s culture, this tender, flavorful dish is traditionally served during celebrations — a symbol of honor and warmth for guests.

Our recipe stays true to heritage while using premium ingredients and modern food safety standards, so you get the perfect balance of tradition and quality in every bite.

ABOUT

INDONESIA

Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago with over 17,000 islands and more than 600 languages, is often described as the most culturally diverse country on earth. This diversity extends to its cuisine, where abundant spices, fresh produce, and centuries of tradition create an endless array of flavors.

Each region offers distinctive dishes, but none more celebrated than Rendang Padang from Western Sumatra—a rich, caramelized beef curry infused with spiced coconut milk, delivering the quintessential taste of Indonesia: complex, elegant, and unforgettable.

A land where vibrant cultures and bold flavors
come together on every plate.

padang/minangkabau (western Sumatra)

Western Sumatra is home to the matrilineal Minangkabau people, known for their entrepreneurial spirit and Padang restaurants across Indonesia. Their signature dish, rendang, has over 150 variations, each with a rich, caramelized flavor from slow cooking.

Once made with buffalo meat over eight to nine hours, it’s now more often prepared with beef. Its long shelf life made it a popular food for travel, including the Haj pilgrimage, and every bite reflects the care behind it.

He remains a passionate traveler who loves exploring Indonesia’s myriad villages as much as he enjoys seeking pleasures in the most unlikely places in the world.

FOOD GIVES NO BARRIERS TO MANKIND

– CHEF WILLIAM WONGSO

a legacy for indonesia

chef william & linda lim

Rendang is just the beginning. What started as a way to share one iconic dish has become a deeper mission: to honor Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage, to introduce Indonesian cuisine to the world, and give back to the land and people behind it.

The idea sparked when Linda Lim wondered why there were no ready-to-eat Indonesian food on the market. She envisioned turning this gap into a business, and Chef William Wongso immediately agreed. In January 2024, they launched the first USDA-approved ready-to-eat Indonesian dish in the U.S. — a milestone for both culture and cuisine. Today, every pack of rendang is more than a meal. It’s a love letter to Indonesia — its flavors, its people, and its history — brought to life for the world to enjoy. Because, as Linda says, If no one starts, who will?

Inspired by Linda’s vision for cultural preservation and guided by Chef William’s mastery, this project celebrates the flavors and traditions of West Sumatra — while supporting local farmers, spice growers, and communities.

We stay true to the roots by using ingredients grown in Indonesia’s soil — from aromatic spices to fresh coconut — and pair them with USDA-approved beef to ensure exceptional quality. As we continue to introduce more dishes, our goal is simple: to share the story of Indonesia, one plate at a time.
